Factors Affecting Developmental Tasks Achievement of Elderly People

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to test factors affecting developmental tasks achievement of elderly people and to provide practical implication for a better program development. The data was obtained through survey with elderly people residing in the city of Young-in. The final sample consists of 112 respondents. In this study, developmental tasks was divided into four sub-domain: intellectual domain, social domain, justice domain, physical domain. The results of this study were as follow: First, there was significant difference according to age, education degree, spouse, leisure activities in intellectual domain and to education degree, spouse, health conditions, family relationship, leisure activities in social domain. Also, there was significant difference according to education degree, neighbor relationship religion activities, leisure activities in justice domain and to gender, education degree, spouse, leisure activities in physical domain. Second, the result of multi-regression analysis identified that there were the factors affecting developmental tasks in all of four sub-domain were education degree, leisure activities and religion was the factor affecting developmental tasks in three of them except social domain. Based upon research findings, this study suggests that effective program concerning developmental tasks achievement of elderly people should be further developed and expanded.
